Cairns Wildlife Dome

things to do in cairns - cairns wildlife domeHunting for things to do in Cairns? Welcome to the DOME!  No, it isn’t two men enter, one man leaves, however the leaving part can be hard!

When I was on the lookout for things to do in Cairns, the Dome was one of the first venues I attended and to be honest, I was not disappointed.

Opened in 2003, Cairns Wildlife Dome is a fantastic day out with the partner, friends and especially fantastic if you’re looking for things to do in Cairns with kids. Whether you live in Cairns or are just passing through, put it on your check-list.

The dome, located in Cairns Reef Hotel Casino on the waterfront of town, spans 20 metre high, full to the brim with rainforest plants, exotic birds, mammals and reptiles. They even have resident crocodiles.

Shows are on all throughout the day, so there is plenty of interactive and educational action for yourself and the kids. You can check out the Cairns Dome show time here. My favourite is the kookaburra feeding. I love those cheeky buggers. Had a few times when they have stolen sausages right of my BBQ while I have been cooking them outside.

The dome is open daily from 9 am to 8 pm everyday, except Christmas.

Tickets are also pretty cheap for Cairns prices.

Adults – $22 / Children (4-14 years of ages) – $11.

So pop on in to the Dome. No men fighting on elastic bands with medieval weapons, but if you’re after fun things to do in Cairns that are close to the city, make sure you take the opportunity to get there sometime.
